About Shanthi College

Malavalli Taluk is one of the socially, economically and educationally backward areas in Karnataka state. To overcome these setbacks it is imperative to educate the inhabitants of this area. Realizing this undisputed fact, Late, Sri. K.N.Nagegowda and his associates made an initiative to bring up a degree college in his homeland. Hence the Shanthi Education Society (R) was established in the year 1970 with the noble mission of ‘Providing Higher Education to the Rural Children’. Presently, the society is running a High School, a Pre-University College with Arts, Science and Commerce faculties, a Degree College consisting of Arts, Commerce, Management and Science courses, a three years Law College, an ITI College, and PG course i.e. M.Com., degree.  Among these Pre-University College and Degree College consisting of Arts and Commerce faculties come under grant in aid and rest of the courses run under self-financing system. The College has permanent affiliation to University of Mysore and included under section 2(f) and 12B of the UGC Act, 1956.

The degree college is multi faculty Co-education College i.e. Arts, Commerce, Science and Management. It is imparting higher education to the poor and needy students for whom higher education is a dream and beyond reach. The college has good ambiance for students’ studies due to its aloofness and free from noise pollution from the market yard.

The college had applied voluntarily to NAAC for Assessment and Accreditation during 2004 for the first cycle and 2010 for the second cycle. After being satisfied, the NAAC awarded “B” Grade. This is another milestone in the history of this rural college with limited resources.
